Double Bill - Puberty Blues and Dear and Yonder
Puberty Blues
A HUGE hit in 1981 this film still holds a special place for so many Aussie's who grew up on the beach in 70s and 80s. It's an honest and privileged look at growing up inside Sydney's surfie subculture in the 70s, as seen through the eyes of girls.
Believing that you’re either a surfie chick or you’re no one, two school girls, Debbie (Nell Schofield) and Sue (the late Jad Capella) plan to brown nose their way in to popularity with the popular click in school. The closer the girls get to the "cool" surfie click the more disillusioned they become as they discover the the surfie click is extremely sexist.
The night will honour the life of Jad Capella and her performance in one of Australia’s most successful and loved films, Puberty Blues. Proceeds of the night will go to Beyond Blue.

This thriller is a gripping, dark and grim survival adventure. It’s the story of a father and son ‘s fight for survival in a post-apocalyptic America. If you liked NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN then you’re likely to admire this newer adaptation from the same author, Cormac McCarthy. A score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis tops of the haunting desperation at the films heart.
